Envirogroom Products Now At The Wag

We made a commitment to our neighbors in Chandler that we would use only environmentally responsible products and we are standing behind that. Not only are we using Envirogroom products for the eco-friendly philosophy that they also have adopted but they are a local company so we are reducing our carbon footprint because it only has to travel a few miles. We believe in shopping local and keeping as much of our money in the local area while providing The Wag’s growing community with the highest quality, guilt free grooming experience available. You can rest assured that we are constantly striving to provide the highest quality grooming experience for not only our precious pet community but for their owners as well. You can check out Envirogroom’s site here and see for yourself why we feel strongly about this wonderful product.  http://www.envirogroom.com/Shampoos.html

The Wag Dog Salon Gives Back

We have finally narrowed the list of charities we will be donating to. We searched long and hard and did a lot of research but the two we will be helping are:

1) Pets of The Homeless https://www.petsofthehomeless.org/ which is the only national organization focused exclusively on feeding and providing veterinary care to pets that belong to homeless people.

2) Barb’s Dog Rescue of Puerto Penasco  https://www.barbsdogrescue.org/  Thousands of homeless dogs roam the streets in this community. Many are injured or caring for young litters of puppies.

We open our doors to dogs in need and provide them with food, shelter, veterinary care, and a place to call home, for however long they need.

We are still working out the basics and will let you all know how we plan on implementing this AND we will keep a monthly tally of what YOU as a community have helped donate.

THANK YOU for making this venture a success and we look forward to taking care of you all of your pets while we (as a community) take care of others.

January 14th is National Dress Up Your Pet Day, Three Companies To Check Out

So, to say I am not a fan of a pet in a costume may be an understatement. I tend to like things that are a bit more natural (no ketchup for me) but with January 14th is National Dress Up Your Pet Day and I wanted to do a bit of research as to why those folks that like to dress up their furry friends deserved their own day. I must admit that after an hour or so of looking at these cute little bundles of fur all dressed up in some of the craziest costumes ever, my heart softened a bit and I started to see why owner’s do this to their pets. This does not mean that I’ll be putting my 106 lb. Lab into a unicorn costume but I do understand a bit more now.

I found costumes that ranged in price from very inexpensive (just a bow) to a Game of Thrones inspired dragon that was going for $1800 bucks and I noticed three companies that stood out so I will give them to you in no particular order with my observations about each one.

Nice Pet Products - these guys are probably the least expensive company I researched. Their costumes tend to be a bit more tame and “cartoony”. These are going to be some of the easiest to put on as many seem to be just a printed pet hoodie but nonetheless the quality looks decent and there is some variety if you want to step out of the hoodie box. I love the soccer jerseys shown below.

California Costumes - These guys are pretty cool. I really enjoyed looking through their line. I absolutely love this Frankenstein costume you can see here .

They seem to have better quality and more of a selection than Nice Pet but they look like they are going to be a bit more work and may not be suited for antsy or scratchy pets. The prices are also a bit more than the lower quality manufacturers but in this case you get what you pay for as the material looks better as does the quality.

Finally and possibly my favorite is Rubie’s Costume Company - Rubie’s seems to be a great company that has a great philosophy. The price is on par with the other two companies but the quality and materials seem to be far beyond most other companies I researched. Rubie’s also has a Big Dog Boutique which caters to those massive mastiff’s and Krazy Big Komondor’s. I still have yet to pull a trigger on one so my Lab is safe but some of these costumes are absolutely adorable.

I’m still not convinced but you guys go ahead and shop away, some of these costumes are great. Talk to you guys later.

Field Trip Day!!!!

I promised you guys a running blog of all the excitement happening at The Wag and we are delivering. Today we had the distinct pleasure of going to see our sign contractor Mike LaPorte and the awesome crew over at SummitWest Signs. You guys are not going to believe what they had in store for us. I have some video’s on the basic anatomy of our sign and some preview pics to show you guys.

First Look At The Sign
The Wag Dog Salon new sign

The sign sounds like it will be up on the 21st and we couldn’t be happier.

We at The Wag Dog Salon cannot be any happier with our decision to use SummitWest Signs, their customer service cannot be beat and the entire staff is really great. (Jessica wants to shout out to Stephanie…we didn’t forget you). I have linked to their name so if you have any sign needs either interior or exterior, The Wag Dog Salon recommends SummitWest Signs.

Here are the video’s I shot of some interesting insights into them making our sign. It is much more involved than I expected but it’s going to be GREAT.
